Expert Tailoring & Alterations
Hems, takes-in, sleeve length, seat & rise, full re-cuts. Hand-finished where it matters — collars, lapels, buttonholes, the seams you'll see when you move.
A working tailor's shop at 9 Knapp Street — generational craftsmanship for the cut you want, paired with the full-service drycleaning, leather care, and gown preservation that keep the rest of your closet in shape.
Alterations is the practice. Garment care is the complement. You shouldn't need a second shop for the rest of your wardrobe — so we handle that too, with the same standard as the tailoring bench.

Cai Sheng learned the trade the long way — at his father's bench, then a decade behind the curtains of bespoke houses where every seam is closed by hand. The work is exacting because it has to be: a coat that fits the shoulder is a coat that survives a generation, and a hem that lays flat is the difference between a garment that's worn and one that's hung.
The shop sits at the seam of two of Boston's quietest tailoring traditions — the Chinese tailors and dressmakers who have outfitted the neighborhood for the better part of a century, and the 19th-century leather and shoe district one block east that gave the Leather District its name. Knapp Street, a block from Kneeland and steps from the Greenway, is the right corner for this kind of work.
Because a tailor's customer rarely has just one garment, we offer the full complement: drycleaning, leather and suede care, wash & fold, gown preservation, and door-to-door pickup. Old-world craftsmanship, modern reliability — both, on the same ticket.
